drawings. Added in July are two cat drawings - one of a lion asleep and the other an
Indian Desert Cat (the Asian wildcat). These drawings along with bird paintings and
a clouds study, will be included in the Winter Salon exhibition, opening at International
Art Centre on 5 August 2010
Currently on the easels are native Australian birds
including Australian Magpie and Red-Tailed Black Cockatoo, also another little Eastern
Yellow Robin and various sketches, inspired by my recent trip to New South Wales and
Victoria. Other works in progress include white doves in flight, Pallas Cat and
another Snow Leopard, also Pumas (or cougar), to my mind one of the most beautiful of all
the wild cats... The Ocelot study
is now complete, the fur on this cat being the most complex I have painted to date!

Gallery Opening Exhibition 31 August - September 2008:
New gallery opening group exhibition introducing their artists - Colette's artworks
included Prairie
Dogs II and the
large graphite drawing ' The
Welcoming Committee ' (Chinese Geese).
' The Welcoming Committee' may seem a fitting title for an art gallery opening piece, but
the drawing was always going to be named that as these birds are always there to greet you
when you venture into their territory in their home at Staglands Wildlife Reserve. There's
another reason for the title, the female geese are heavy with eggs!
